The Jubilee of 1550 offered a number of congregations the chance to display their organisational abilities. These included the founding of the SS. Trinità dei Pellegrini, built thanks to Filippo Neri in 1548, in preparation for the Jubilee. Shelter for the pilgrims had initially been in the church of San Salvatore in Campo and was transferred ten years later to the church of SS. Trinità dei Pellegrini. The hospice built for the Jubilee of 1625 was right next to the church. The altarpiece inside by Jacopo Zucchi, The Mass of St. Gregory, of 1575, is a Jubilee work of art par excellence and had been commissioned by Pope Gregory XIII. It communicates the same tone of austerity and magnificence of Rome in that Holy Year.
