Founded, according to legend, in the fourth century on the site of the house that had hosted St. Jerome, the church, with the adjacent convent, is closely linked to the figure of St. Philip. Filippo lived here, between 1551 and 1583, and during this time met people such as Carlo Borromeo and Ignatius of Loyola. In order to serve the church with total dedication, Filippo came to give up his salary. The eighteenth-century Antamoro chapel, the only work in Rome by Filippo Juvarra, is dedicated to St. Philip and adorned with the marble statue of the saint by Pierre Legros. The chapel is only open on Sundays.
