In order to satisfy the needs of an expanding Chinese community less than 10 years from the opening of the Buddhist temple of the Esquiline hill, a new Buddhist temple was inaugurated in 2013: the Hua Yi Si Temple. If the Esquiline temple was the first one in Europe, this one is the greatest of the continent. Its characteristic pagoda form is distinctive trait in an area dominated by industrial hall and storehouses. Two stone lions are the watch guards to the internal space dominated, according to the tradition, by a great statue of Buddha. An exclusively vegetarian restaurant for 200 people is also part of the complex.
