In Piazza della Visione, La Storta, the little chapel of St. Ignatius recalls the apparition to the saint of Christ with the cross. In November 1537, according to tradition, three priests, Ignatius of Loyola, Pietro Fabro of Villaret and Giacomo Lainez of Almazàn travelled to Rome. Along the Via Francigena, at La Storta, there eas a small chapel. Ignazio went in and, immersed in prayer, had a vision of Jesus Christ with the cross on his shoulders and, beside Him, the Father said: “I want You to take him as your servant.” Jesus then turned to Ignazio, saying: “I want you to serve us.” The mystical phenomenon had a clear impact in the foundation of the Society of Jesus. The place immediately became a venue of worship and pilgrimage.
